WEEK 7

Neuroscience and Art
My only real knowledge to this point on the topic of nueroscience stems from fictional tv shows focused upon hospital drama, for example, Grey's Anatomy or Scrubs. All my dreams of getting a job in the medical field are due to a made up fantasy of what hospital life is from these shows. Then I am faced with reality. Nueroscience is a lot more school, money, and literal brains. That is where my stomach draws the line.

Although I knew neuroscience was hardcore most my knowledge was only gained through binge watching Netflix. I realize that there is even more that goes into. However until reading the articles and seeing the videos,  I never wouldve believed or imagined that art was involved. Throughout this course I have seen how art is truly universal. It takes different forms in each field in coincides with. But art can be used in pretty much anything including: technology, science, and in medicine. So far when we have reviewed examples of art in these subjects we have seen advancements and a positvie relationship with blending art in.

The combination of nanotech and art has opened many doors to study the brain and test its controllability. Professor Vesna touched on the idea of mind control in her videos and wether or not it can truly be achieved. I agree that the mind can be controlled through drugs that nanotechnology has created like LSD. But my opinion differs on how much can we control the mind. There is still so much we don't know. I definitely agree it can be manipulated to some extent. But I feel that the collaboration between art and neurotech can further advance this study to create something to control the mind. However, with that being said, giving drugs "without knowledge or consent" can not be tolerated. This is a very advanced study and it needs to stay professional for it to truly work. I believe if we continue to work with aritsts the neurotech field will continue to advance.

EVENT 1

Eco-Centric Art and Science Symposium: Prophesies and Predictions image source: my iPhone  At this event Professor Taylor presented a virtual reality experience. This virtual reality took us into the eyes of birds. Still, we cannot fully understand how birds feel about the changing environment reality and the confusion it is causing. But, this reality gives us a much better understanding.  image source: my iPhone Professor Taylor discussed students in Victoria's virtual reality experience. It is a combination of art design, science, and robotics. This project was meant to create awareness about the effects we have on birds and their environment. But, the special thing about this technique is that it incorporates art and science which is why it relates to our course. Professor taylor mentioned it and I would agree with his opinion that, people are more likely to listen to advice or understand better from a virtual reality experience allowing them to feel like h...
